We got up early today (5:30am) and drove to Te Anua. It was about a four hour drive. We checked into our Motel, had a little lunch and drove three more hours to "Milford Sound".
By the way...we haven't run into any hotels here in New Zealand yet. The towns are small and quaint. We are loving the motels, as they are all adorable, clean and everyone, I mean everyone is beyond friendly here!
New Zealand has proved to be all we thought it would be and more! It's so unspoiled! We've never been to a place with so few cities. Green hill sides spill down into the ocean. The ocean here is a teal green, as are the rivers. The water in the rivers here is the cleanest we've ever laid our eyes on. The water looks like glass and runs over the rocks with a blue teal color! The beauty here is nothing like we've ever seen before! The water from the tap is Delicious!!! You water lovers out there will understand that silly comment!
Milford Sound is the in Fiordlands. The drive up had so many waterfalls that we lost count. Milford Sound opens up into the Tasman Sea. We took a three hour cruise, which took us through the sound to the Sea. He stopped many times and the captain drove the boat into the water falls a few times! I'm sure this will be the highlight of our whole trip. No words come to me except...Spectacular!
| Found this shot on the internet, as none of ours turned out this good. But this shot is the closest to what we really saw today! |
